A new Air Crew Emergency Training (ACET) course is now available.

The ACET course is intended to provide non-pilot Mission Observers a thorough introduction to the concepts and instruments needed to aviate, navigate, and communicate, to help participants better understand the perceptions they acquire in the course of a normal flight, and use them to build the solid foundation of knowledge, confidence, and basic skills needed to safely and competently handle an emergency situation. Below are the course details:

  • Instructors will go through the Train-the-Trainer material on the CAP Learning Management System.
  • Students (non-pilot Mission Observers) will be instructed in a classroom setting by your approved instructors.
  • This program is unfunded and as such flights will be flown under the “C-24” ACET mission symbol.
  • CAP/USAF training funds cannot be used to supplement costs; however, non-Air Force funds (State appropriations, fund raisers, etc) may be used to help off-set student and instructor costs.
  • There will be no student flight logbook entrees since this is considered survival training and not primary flight training.
  • The instructor will log the flight time similar to Cadet Orientation flights.
  • Instructors will perform all take offs and landings.
  • Currency training is not required.
